Article Title: Loading the Rotor

Check the rotor for firm seating (see Installing the Rotor). With swing-out rotors, all rotor positions must have identical buckets. Certain buckets are marked with the number of the rotor position. These buckets may only be used in the respective rotor position. Buckets that are marked with a set number (e.g. S001/4) may only be used in the set.

Article Title: Lubrication of Rotor trunnions

The rotor trunnions are small steel knobs located at the end of a swing-out rotor. The centrifuge buckets hang from these trunnions during centrifugation. As the buckets swing on these trunnions, friction can build quickly due to the centrifugal forces.
