When replacing the temperature sensor, the EPROM, or the electronics, or when erasing the EEPROM, one must check for and offset any temperature measurement deviations. Failure to compensate for temperature sensor deviations can cause inaccurate temperature distribution. To compensate for temperature measurement deviations, please follow the instructions in the video or in the link below.

Most facilities have a pre-determined schedule of maintenance for the different categories of equipment. Hettich recommends all centrifuges be cleaned and inspected at "regular intervals". For high usage (24 hours a day/ 7 days a week), once a month is strongly suggested. For mid to low usage, (normal business hours, weekdays only), every three months.

It is important to regularly clean, inspect and lubricate the rotor and accessories in all Hettich centrifuges. General maintenance procedures will ensure proper operations, provide optimal and consistent results plus extend the life span of all components. Regular inspection and lubrication can reduce the operational noise, decrease potential vibrations and prevent imbalance errors from occurring.

Centrifuge rotors are designed to sit evenly and to fit tightly onto the motor shaft. When installing a rotor, be sure that particles of dirt do not adhere to the motor shaft and cause an uneven seating of the rotor. Be sure to grease the motor shaft on a regular basis to allow for easier removal in the future and to prevent the metal of the shaft from binding with the metal of the rotor.

Predictive Maintenance: Life Cycle Counts/Maximum Cycles

Like most mechanical devices, such as a car or truck, centrifuges follow a maintenace program and part replacement schedule base on maximum cycle counts. Although this can take many years, eventually the materials used in your rotor, buckets, and centrifuges will reach the end of their useful life. By performing mechanical stress tests, we have determined the maximum amount of cycles our products should undergo before being retired.

The rotor trunnions are small steel knobs located at the edge of a swing-out rotor and support the centrifuge buckets. During centrifugation, the buckets will swing on the trunnions causing friction. For best results, general maintenance and greasing of the trunnions will decrease the friction and allow for an even swing of the buckets.

The outer surfaces of Hettich centrifuges are constructed of various painted metal surfaces and molded plastics. These surfaces stand up to most regular cleaning products such as "409", "Fantastic", "Simple Green", "Windex", etc.

Hettich suggests to avoid cleaners with ammonia as they may interact with LCD screens.
